Workflow Management and Content Creation: Expedition: LEARN!
Managed editorial process for elementary and middle school science and STEM leveled passages and assessments based on Encyclopaedia Britannica's renowned articles.
Revised elementary and middle school content for standards (NGSS, TX, FL, VA), readability (Lexile and qualitative), access for al learners, and quality.
Leveled science passages for readability while maintaining equity, content quality, and rigorous standard satisfaction.
Evaluated and shaped outputs for new in-house artificial intelligence (AI)/LLM products for maximum use by end-users. Outputs included vocabulary and definitions, leveled passages for kindergarten through twelfth grade, and assessment items.
Curriculum Design: Writing Workshop
Designed the instructional plan and scope & sequences for Grades 1–6 writing and grammar component for HMH Into Reading.
Ensured all grades met the standards set by Texas, Florida, Virginia, and the Common Core State Standards.
Wrote all prototypes and developed layouts and features in coordination with design team.
Led literature search for all grades and coordinated rights acquisitions and adaptations.
Coordinated editorial vendors, in-house editorial staff, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery.

Curriculum Design: HMH Journeys
Led the Grade 4 editorial team for the Texas, Florida, Common Core, and California versions of the program.
Designed and prototyped the writing pages in each edition.

Curriculum Design: Excursions English Language Development
Designed the instructional plan for grade 1–6 for 2007 California adoption using the CA Framework and standards, state DOE input, and latest research in ELL pedagogy and functional linguistics.
The component covered survival language, language functions, content-area vocabulary development, phonics and phonemic awareness, and support for all four ELA strands (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing).
Wrote grade four scope and sequence and revised and approved for all other grades.
Wrote editorial vendor guidelines and oversaw vendor work.
Revised and approved all grade 4 ELD materials.
Coordinated ELL approach between ELD and the larger CA adoption submission, HMH Excursions.
Standards Alignment
Correlated numerous ELA programs, including HSP StoryTown, HMH Journeys, HMH Into Reading, and VHL Connect, to various state standards.
Designed curricula around standards and other state documentation from California, Texas, and Florida, as well as the Common Core State Standards.
Contributed to the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt “learning spine,” a complete taxonomy of all K-12 English/Language Arts skills, by developing complete skill lists for the writing, grammar, research, and listening and speaking strands.
Led mapping project of all state standards onto CCSS.
Created gap analyses for many states for programs including HSP StoryTown, HMH CA Excursions, and HMH Journeys, with streamlined solution recommendations.
